Jan Stradtmann’s photographs of eerily lit sheds at the Manor Gardens site were taken in the last months of public access to the site. 6 months later, all trace had been erased, the soil itself being removed in the symbolic cleansing of the area of every sign of history or previous human activity.

Manor Garden Allotments, demolished in October 07 to make way for a footpath in the Olympic Park continue to inspire.
The Community Shed, once hub of the allotment community, has been reconstructed by M.A. student at the Royal College of Art, Thomas Pausz, using the memories and stories of plot holders.

Young artists, including new Goldsmiths graduates and DAAD scholars, review the pathos of city living at Seven Seven Contemporary Art, 77 Broadway Market, London E8 4PH. Open Thu-Sun 12 till 5.
Artists showing work are Jörg Obergfell, Yo Okada, Debra Scacco, Jan Stradtmann and Rachael Weitzman.

Silver Surfing

Yesterday, the community garden went wireless with the expertise of the team, who constructed an ad-hoc mast for the Silver Surfers event. Many older plot holders came along to use computers and the internet for the first time. Including Albert who uploaded photos of his plot onto the album right here!
